Regulatory Mandate
The core responsibility of the Authority is to regulate the gambling industry in Botswana. This encompasses the issuance of licenses, ensuring compliance with license conditions, and fostering an environment of fair and safe gambling across the nation. The regulatory framework is designed to uphold socially and internationally acceptable operational requirements and standards.
In addition, the Authority is an active member of the International Association of Gambling Regulators (IAGR). The incorporation of relevant IAGR aspects into the regulatory framework adds a global dimension to our jurisdiction, ensuring that Botswana’s gambling industry aligns with international best practices.
Services Offered
Establishing and Enforcing guidelines and procedures to ensure that the, legislation, industry policies, standards and rules that govern gambling in Botswana are adhered to
development and implementation of programmes and strategies aimed at preventing addictive/compulsive gambling, and rehabilitating compulsive gamblers
The issuance of legal permission to operate a gambling business, gambling activities and assorted licences provided for under the Gambling Act 2012
