Vacancies - Systems assurance officer

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the reliable, secure administration and maintenance of the Gambling Authority’s core computer applications and systems. Secondly, serves as a technical specialist conducting rigorous compliance assurance activities (audits, reviews, testing) across licensed Gaming and Casino operators to verify adherence to technical standards, game rules, and regulatory requirements. This position is pivotal in mitigating risks related to software malfunction, fraud, and security breaches.
The incumbent will be responsible for, among others, the following:

Policies and Strategies
  • Research emerging threats (e.g., cyber threats, fraud techniques) and technologies impacting gambling integrity; recommend policy updates.
  • Develop, review, and update technical standards, compliance frameworks, and testing methodologies for gambling software and systems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, patch, and upgrade the Gambling Authority’s core applications (e.g., licensing systems, self-exclusion databases, reporting portals, internal tools).
  • Conduct technical compliance audits and reviews of licensed operator systems (RNGs, game logic, player accounts, payment systems, security controls).
  • Analyze software code, configurations, and logs for evidence of non-compliance or manipulation.
  • Provide expert technical advice to internal investigators and legal teams.
  • Implement real-time monitoring for Authority/operator system anomalies and security events.
  • Analyze BI data (e.g., player transaction trends, audit logs) to detect non-compliance.
  • Generate compliance reports for regulators and executive dashboards.
  • Maintain audit trails for all assurance activities.

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:

A Degree in Software Engineering, ICT or related field. Microsoft Power BI certification is required.
At least 3-5 years of experience in database and software development.

Experience in the following is also required:
Systems installation and data back-up and systems assurance
IT Security, Vulnerability Management, or Penetration Testing
IT Audit, Compliance, Risk Management, or Quality Assurance.
